The silver Lightning

I've been always afraid of bare emtal/alluminium aircraft, but I nevertheless decided to try the new AK extreme emtal  on a 1/72 Trumpeter Lightning F6 ... The No.23 Squadron  commander's aircraft back in 1975,  at RAF Leuchars, as offered by Xtradecals, was a perfect subject! Ammo of Mig Jimenez aircraft weathering set and oils helped with the finish!!!!

Some times ago I came across a picture of  a former  East German Air Force (LSK-LV) Mig-21 forgotten  in a corner of an abandoned airfield in what was once  the German Democratic Republic. remembering that I had an old  Fujimi's Mig-21PF in the stash, I decided to go for that  subject.
Altough the fujimi's kit has some problem in the nose area, between the  the intake and the windscreen, I decided to buyilt  it stricly  out of the box , focusing instead on painting and weathering... That's the final result...

The Veteran... T72B Checenya, 1995

I've been really impressed by Armory T72B coversion I''d purchased some months ago ... After seeing some picture of battle weary T72B in the first checen war , I decided to give it a try on its intended kit, the already excellent Revell's T72M  coupled with some photoetched from Extratech... Ammo of Mig Jimenez excellent modern soviet armour colour set allowed me to reproduce a war weary caucasian veteran ... Or, at least I hope so...

The White Hunter

back in early 1945, on the plans and slow rolling hills of Hungary, a white washed, battle weary  hunter  sortied out for its preys: tigers and panthers ! 1/72  Dragon SU-100 with some scratch photoetched parts, metal gun barrel from RB  and Armo tracks, painted with AK and  Italeri acrylics. Weathering by oils and enamels from AK Interactive.

Somewhere close to hell...

... In an hell called Somalia, the AMISOM forces  ( African Union Mission in Somalia) are struggling to restore  peace against the Al Shabab militias. Backbone of the mission are the armoured fornces from the Ugandese Army, deploying varous model of T55, including upgraded T55MV with reactive armour . Using Pst 1/72 kit with an heavily modified modelltrans turret,  I depicted one of this tank  bypassing a dump were lie abandones a Mig -17 of the former Somali Air corps...

The last charge: SS sPzAbt 501 Tiger II in Hungary, operation Frühlingserwachen

Operation Frühlingserwachen was the last, desperate offensive carried out by the German OKH in Hungary against the Gran bridgehead  in a vain attempt to protect  the hungarian oil fields and recapture Budapest. Led by the last armoures units of the once powerfull 6th SS Panzer Armee, after an initial limited success the offensive bogged down in spring thaw and against overwhelming  soviet forces, ending  in a total failure .

Havng been always fascinated by the vicious and desperate fighting on the last year of war in the east, I decided to built a model depcting the exhausted and hars conditions experienced in those dark days. the coiche fell on Revell's Kingtiger, an excelelnt model to be updated with Part Photoetched and RB barrel.

then I painted the thank with superb AK interaktive late war geman colour set  and weathered it with oils and AK enamels...  the last touch came from a superb Mantis model German Panzer crew...  the tank  featured  in Steel Art's "Koenigstiger project special"  with step by step of building, painting and weathering stages ...
