1972: duel at Dong Ha, T54 finished

The last charge: SS sPzAbt 501 Tiger II in Hungary, operation Frühlingserwachen

Operation Frühlingserwachen was the last, desperate offensive carried out by the German OKH in Hungary against the Gran bridgehead  in a vain attempt to protect  the hungarian oil fields and recapture Budapest. Led by the last armoures units of the once powerfull 6th SS Panzer Armee, after an initial limited success the offensive bogged down in spring thaw and against overwhelming  soviet forces, ending  in a total failure .

Havng been always fascinated by the vicious and desperate fighting on the last year of war in the east, I decided to built a model depcting the exhausted and hars conditions experienced in those dark days. the coiche fell on Revell's Kingtiger, an excelelnt model to be updated with Part Photoetched and RB barrel.

then I painted the thank with superb AK interaktive late war geman colour set  and weathered it with oils and AK enamels...  the last touch came from a superb Mantis model German Panzer crew...  the tank  featured  in Steel Art's "Koenigstiger project special"  with step by step of building, painting and weathering stages ...

In progess: 1972 duel at Dong Ha ....

during the easter invasion of 1972, around the Vietnamese  city of Dong Ha on the Cam Lo river,  a vicious fight developed between the People Army of North Vietnam's 201 Armoured Regiment and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam's  1st Armoured Brigade... until the 27 of  april the south vietnamese M48 and M41 held their positions against the PAVN's T54 , Type 59 and Type 63, finally collapsing under  combined tank/ anti tank missiles attack.
I started this project with ACE T54, a short run kit  upgraded with Armo Barrel, ACE photo etched tracks and a lot of scratchbuilt... paintig was done with lifecolor  soviet set...

Merkava I Hybrid

Merkava Siman 1 Meshupar, aka Merkava I Hybrid... a crosskit between the old ESCI incorrect Merkava II and the Revell Merkava III with a some scratchbuilts.... painted and weathered with excellent Lifecolor idf set and §AK interaktive enamels....the model will feature in september  issue of Stelle Art, a Merkava special ...

Old enemies

Old enemes meet again in Golan, 1967...an Israeli  welded Hull M51 passed by an abandoned Syrian Jagpanzer IV during the final stages of the israeli offensive along the Golan's roads...
The M51 is a cross kit beetween UM M4A3 Hwss and fine scale factory's M51, while the Jagpanzer is a trumpeter kit whit some scratch details... Both painted with lifecolors and AK interaktive acrylics ... The diorama was featured with extensive explaination on May, 2013 issue of Steel Art from Auriga Publishing
